Friday Night markets 5pm - 10pm May 10th - Oct 11, 2013 Shipyards Plaza 138 Victory Ship Way, NVBeautifully situated one block east of the Lonsdale Quay and the Seabus terminal on North Vancouver's waterfront is the newly developed Shipyards. Rich in history and risen from the ashes of the great shipbuilders and times gone by, it's a wonderful homage to the workers and elements that built this city, a history not to be forgotten.
The great ships built here, brought workers and focused on international trade. The Industry employed the people that made our country all that it is, and continues to do so. It is only fitting that in its new development the Shipyards hosts a high quality market put on by North Shore Green Markets.
Beginning May 10th it comes to life every Friday night from 5-10 pm, and then in June it expands to every Thursday and Friday.
The market fills the square with excitement and the delights of B.C. made products to fulfill all of your needs and senses. Local farmers, whom along with their fresh fruits and vegetables, will impart you with a smile. Other offerings include meats such as organic beef and lamb, for beautiful dinners or creating those great summer bbq memories. It's easy to get all of your grocery shopping done and more, such as load up on organic berries and veggies for that summer canning. If you don't have the time to can there are plenty of products to fill your pantry with, including preserves, churned butters and amazing local honey. Chocolatiers, dessert makers, and bakers offer the most gorgeous and tasty baked goods that with a glance or bite can transport one to simpler time. Not to be outdone, there are plenty of cosmopolitan choices and combinations of offerings that will astound and please, especially plenty of gluten free and delicious healthy options for everyone.
As your eyes roam the spectacular waterfront views, to the beautifully decorated artisan booths full of beautiful creations by local artists, from clothing designs, potters, painters, jewellers, you may want to begin some of your Christmas shopping. There is something beautiful for all budgets, and who doesn't love a unique and wonderful gift from the market?
If you would rather eat, drink and be merry there are lots of choices for that too. The sea air floats in; mixing some of the most amazing scents from the best food trucks the lower mainland has to offer. It leads you to a delectable dinner you will feel good about eating, and a true foodies delight. You can try the 16 hour slow roasted pork and chicken, fresh perogies, Mediterranean lamb and tuna burgers, salads, and risotto balls. The list is nearly endless and continues on with innovative Korean fusion, French cuisine, Chilitank, kebobs, and simple or fancy grilled cheese sandwiches, and many vegan and vegetarian choices. If you have room, move onto a dessert of warm and wonderfully filled Slavic Rolls, a scoop of real gelato, or the simple beauty of a cookie or tart. Then you may want to head over the beer and wine garden and enjoy a refreshing drink with friends or just relax and people watch.
From 5- 10pm the music rolls from the grand structure of the Shipbuilders stage with wonderful varieties of local talent sure to please all and keep a happy flow for the evening. Pick up a hula hoop, kick up your heels to the tunes, or just enjoy the sunsets from the Pier. One thing is certain, that every market is not only a destination but a wonderful escape and journey in the present, and such a great way to stop, relax and smell the flowers.
Make it a regular weekly event, bring your friends, family and visitors show them how beautiful and fun our city is, a total feast for the senses, see you there!
